Our courses

Four practical courses, all OT-led

Pick a course to see what it covers. Every one goes beyond “how to use the equipment”, teaching the clinical reasoning behind safe care and when to bring in an occupational therapist.

Manual Handling & Transfers

Framed the OT way, around dignity, independence, environmental setup and the right equipment, not just “how to use a hoist”. Your team learns to move people safely and respectfully in the settings they actually work in.

What we cover

  • Safe bed, chair, toilet and shower transfers
  • Hoist use (ceiling and mobile) and sling choice basics
  • Setting up the environment and selecting the right equipment
  • Protecting client dignity and worker safety
  • Complex presentations: pain, dementia and behaviours
  • Supporting bariatric clients safely
The OT difference: your team learns to recognise when a transfer or setup needs an OT assessment or equipment review, before it becomes an injury or incident.

Falls Prevention & Mobility Safety

Facilities and SIL providers are under real pressure to reduce falls. This training gives your team the skills to spot risks early, support safer mobility, and respond well when a fall happens.

Book this course

What we cover

  • Identifying falls risks in home and facility environments
  • Appropriate supervision levels for mobility
  • Mobility aids and what workers can safely adjust
  • When to call an OT or physiotherapist
  • Post-fall responses and what to check
  • Documenting changes in a person’s function
The OT difference: a clear line between what a support worker can adjust and when a change in function should be escalated to a clinician.

Positioning, Pressure Care & Seating Basics

A classic OT niche that most support workers are under-trained in. Good positioning prevents pressure injuries and contractures, and small adjustments make a big difference to comfort and skin integrity.

Book this course

What we cover

  • Correct positioning in bed and in chairs
  • Reducing pressure injuries and contractures
  • Basic cushion types and what they do
  • Using wedges and pillows safely
  • Low-cost positioning solutions
  • When to escalate for a seating assessment
The OT difference: staff learn the warning signs that mean a person needs a proper OT seating or pressure-care assessment, not just a quick fix.
Available now

Assistive Technology & Home-Mods Awareness

Your staff do not need to prescribe equipment. They need to recognise needs and use what is already in the home safely. This training builds that everyday awareness and a confident “when to refer”.

Book this course

What we cover

  • Common ADL equipment: shower chairs, rails, toilet aids
  • Kitchen and daily-living aids and safe use
  • Red flags that mean “refer to an OT”
  • When a home modification may be needed
  • Simple environment fixes: layout and clutter
  • Lighting and access changes staff can make now
The OT difference: a practical referral checklist so support workers know exactly when to flag a client for an OT assistive technology or home-modification assessment.
Why OT-led

Training that thinks like a clinician

Most manual handling courses teach a technique and move on. Because our trainers are occupational therapists, your team learns the reasoning behind safe care and, just as importantly, when something needs a clinical eye.

  • Real clinical expertiseDelivered by clinicians who assess movement, safety and function every day, not generalist trainers.
  • Local and in-personBased in Liverpool, training teams across Western Sydney, onsite and in clients’ homes.
  • Tailored, not genericBuilt around your equipment, environment, rosters and the people you actually support.
  • Documented outcomesCompetency sign-off and a certificate of completion for every participant, plus a copy for your records.

FAQs

Training questions, answered

Is this accredited or nationally recognised training?
No. This is practical, OT-led training delivered by an AHPRA-registered occupational therapist, with a certificate of completion and competency sign-off. It is not a nationally accredited qualification and we are not a Registered Training Organisation. Many providers use this training to meet internal and refresher requirements, so it is worth checking it suits your specific compliance needs.
Who delivers the training?
All training is delivered by an experienced, AHPRA-registered occupational therapist who assesses movement, safety and function as part of their everyday clinical work.
Can we combine more than one course?
Yes. The four courses work well together. For example, manual handling and falls prevention pair naturally, and a full-day session can cover two topics for the same team. Tell us your priorities and we will build the right mix.
Where does the training take place?
We come to you. Training is delivered onsite at your workplace, or in a client’s home for in-home and 1:1 sessions, across Liverpool and Western Sydney.
Do participants get a certificate?
Yes. After completing the practical competency component, each participant receives a certificate of completion, and your organisation receives a copy for your records.
How many people can attend a session?
Group sizes are flexible. Tell us your team size and we will recommend the right format and confirm pricing. We also offer 1:1 in-home sessions for families, carers and individual workers.
